Cozumel Museum

Chankanaab Natural Park

?Our museum provides a collection of unique island objects and materials of cultural, religious and historical importance, preserved, researched and presented to the public for the purpose of education and enjoyment.

?The museum is housed in a historical building from the 1930´s which was one of the first hotels on the island. It offers, in four permanent exhibit halls, a wide view to the local geography, ecosystems, history and culture.

You can visit the museum to know about the origin, the development, and the customs of the island's inhabitants. The main function of the museum is to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of Cozumel's people.

It is a space in which the most varied creative manifestations are featured. It is a living entity where the active participation of creators and cultural organizations through workshops, exhibitions, and various artistic and cultural activities is fundamental.

The "Museo de la Isla" museum has multiple use areas where painting, dance and theater workshops are given to children, young and adult. It also has an auditorium for cultural events as well as educational consultants who direct guided tours for students' groups.
